At the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI), students are equipped to lead the recovery-oriented, clinical care of people with lived experience of mental illness.
HETI’s Applied Mental Health Studies course is designed for nurses and health care professionals looking to take the next steps in a mental health career, while the Psychiatric Medicine course is designed for Psychiatry trainees, GPs and Rural and Remote specialists.
Applied Mental Health Studies
Delivered online using web conferencing technology, with the flexibility to study at your own pace, wherever you are located, supportive staff work alongside students to help them achieve their goals.
From the first year of study, students have the opportunity to specialise in a life stage:
Students can elect to learn on campus, online, or through web video conferencing – or a combination of these. HETI’s Psychiatric Medicine course is a RANZCP approved Formal Education Course and provides a person-centred approach to improving wellbeing of people in a range of clinical contexts.
What levels of study are available?
There is flexibility for students to enroll in stand-alone or CPD units of study, and three course levels allow you the option to exit at a point appropriate to your needs with a recognised accredited award:
- Graduate Certificate – generally 1 year
- Graduate Diploma – generally 2 years, and
- Masters – generally 3 years
A study now and pay later option is available to eligible students through FEE-HELP.
