Go Back Up

A lived experience consumer survivor for forty years trying to change the experiences of violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation in community and care. Despite opportunities to influence and inform those that can make these changes, and the foundations set by those voices that have come before us, Australia still has the second highest rate of involuntary “treatment” out of 22 countries across Europe, Australia and New Zealand (Rains et al. 2019). An ongoing commitment to human rights, the rescinding of Australia’s interpretive declarations and full compliance by our nation state to the UNCRPD and OPCAT remains a steadfast goal.
