Sharon is a passionate advocate for the structural and cultural reforms needed to prevent and respond more effectively to gender-based violence. She has over 33 years of experience in social work practice within the gender-based violence sector, specialising in preventing and responding to sexual violence. She has an extensive work history in the provision of crisis intervention, advocacy, ongoing therapeutic counselling services and training programs. She has worked in a range of settings, most recently as Counsellor and Training Coordinator (Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment) with the University of South Australia, The University of Adelaide, Yarrow Place Rape and Sexual Assault Service and Victim Support Service.
