April Long, CEO of SMART Recovery Australia, is a passionate advocate for harm reduction and systemic support for recovery. With family connections to Darkinjung and Gumbaynggirr Country, April's work is deeply rooted in lived expertise of parental addiction and incarceration. Throughout their career, April has worked closely with children and families affected by incarceration, witnessing the intergenerational impacts of criminalising addiction. They champion recovery and healing, leading informed discussions on addiction, Indigenous affairs, mental health, and LGBTQIA+ issues. April is dedicated to supporting priority populations, promoting diversity and inclusion, and exploring the role of technology in reducing harms.
