Emily is an expert in mental health and substance use epidemiology, prevention and treatment with a particular focus on tobacco control. She has 16 years’ experience in designing, testing and evaluating behavioural programs for smoking cessation and vaping prevention. She is passionate about addressing health inequities among people with serious mental illness, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians and those experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage. She is a co-chief investigator of the OurFutures Vaping prevention program – the first RCT-evaluated vaping prevention program in Australia – and is an expert advisor on tobacco control to the WHO, the UN and local and federal government agencies.
