Dr Monique Faleafa, CEO of Le Va (NZ) to present Keynote at 16th International Mental Health Conference

Dr Monique Faleafa, Chief Executive Officer of  Le Va (New Zealand) and Clinical Psychologist (DClinPsy) will present a Keynote at the 16th International Mental Health Conference (IMHC) being held at QT Hotel Gold Coast (Qld) Thursday 13 August to Friday 14 August 2015.

The Conference will bring together leading clinical practitioners, academics, service providers and mental health experts to deliberate and discuss Mental Health issues confronting Australia and New Zealand. The Conference theme is Mental Health Future For All with topics across the broad spectrum of mental disorders including Anxiety, Depression, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorders, Bipolar, Dementia and Suicide.

Dr Monique Faleafa

Dr Faleafa is the Chief Executive of national non-government organisation Le Va, specialising in Pasifika well being. She leads New Zealand’s national programme in Pasifika mental health workforce development, suicide prevention, disability support, addictions and public health.

Monique is a registered Clinical Psychologist and has worked in Pasifika communities in New Zealand for more than 17 years. Her work spans grass roots community development, neuro-rehabilitation, clinical practice, research, organisational development, cultural competency, workforce development and governance.

She is currently the Deputy Chair of the New Zealand Psychologists' Board (a regulatory authority in New Zealand), serves on the board of crown entity, the Health Promotion Agency, the New Zealand Rugby League Medical Council, and is a mental health advisor for the Pasifika Advisory Group to Australia’s National Rugby League (NRL).
