Welcome to the Walk of Wonders!

I am Sophie and I decided to hike the Bibbulmun Track from the 17th of March. It is a 1000 kilometre journey starting in Albany at the bottom of Western Australia, up to Kalamunda, in the Perth hills. It should take me about 2 months - and I hope to achieve this beautiful challenge!

In this adventure, I am raising funds and awareness for mental health. There are a few reasons why I had this idea. Years ago, while I was suffering from mental health difficulties, I had promised to myself that, if I would manage to get away from these dark clouds, I would share the light for others in need.

It has been in my heart for a very long time, but in the meantime I have been busy becoming a very lucky and happy person, especially through travelling and meeting the most amazing people. In the last three years, I have been living between New Zealand and Australia, and hiking has been a big part of my well being and joy.

Unfortunately and dramatically, my partner and soulmate passed away in August 2017. He had been himself in a long battle with mental health, but he was defeated as so many other wonderful beings everyday. It obviously took me a lot to face it and "walk" again. But here I am, standing and smiling to this beautiful world. More than ever, I have the urge to spread the messages that seem so important to me. I am done with shame and not only am I ready to speak out for myself but I am also ready to be the voice of people who need one.

I hope to embark you in this beautiful journey with me, sharing love, hope, and truth. Life can not wait. Happiness is right here, as long as we are together on it, with kindness and an open heart.

I decided to raise funds for Headspace Australia. I discovered this wonderful association and their work targeting to support people from 12 to 25 years old, facing difficulties to reach out for some help and support. At this age, the stigma and difficulty to express yourself is very critical and I am glad to act hand in hand with this association in this project.
