Laura is an Associate Lecturer in Rural Health at the Centre for Rural Health (UTAS) and lived experience researcher and advocate, including through Manna Institute and the Tasmanian Centre for Mental Health Service Innovation. Laura has worked in academia and state and federal health and welfare government departments around Australia for the past 22 years, recently with a focus on mental health, wellbeing, and suicide prevention program evaluations. Laura has recently submitted her PhD thesis, exploring the role of community-based suicide prevention in rural communities and developing ‘Best Practice Guidelines for Youth Suicide Prevention in Rural Australian Communities’, pushing for systems change and empowering community-level action.
