RMHC26 is proud to host a special screening of Just A Farmer the acclaimed Australian film that has become a powerful catalyst for mental health conversations across rural and regional communities. Through authentic storytelling and lived realities familiar to farming families, the film explores the impact of isolation, grief, resilience and help-seeking in regional Australia.

Since its release, Just A Farmer has been screened in more than 150 communities, sparking millions of conversations about mental health and demonstrating measurable shifts in awareness, openness and support-seeking behaviour. This special screening offers an opportunity to experience firsthand how storytelling can create meaningful community connection and drive real-world change.

Leila McDougall is the creator and producer of Just A Farmer and a passionate advocate for mental health in rural and regional Australia. Drawing on both lived experience and her work engaging communities across the country, Leila has helped transform the film from a powerful story into a national community-led mental health initiative. Her work demonstrates how storytelling can break down stigma, create connection, and reach people who may never engage with traditional mental health services. Leila is also a keynote speaker at RMHC26.
