Asha Bhat OAM is an inspiring leader and advocate for equality, justice, and self-empowerment, particularly for the Indigenous people of the Noongar nation. As a migrant Indian woman, her personal journey navigating cultural barriers has shaped her passion for social justice.
Appointed CEO of the Southern Aboriginal Corporation (SAC) in 2013, Asha has led transformative initiatives to improve the lives of marginalised communities. Under her leadership, SAC has raised millions of dollars, delivering critical programs such as family violence prevention, affordable housing, emergency relief, and cultural initiatives. Her efforts have supported over 4,250 women and children in legal matters, provided over 1,500 non-legal support services, and secured housing for over 450 Aboriginal people.
Asha's dedication extends to creating inclusive community events, such as establishing the NAIDOC Ball and Awards in regional WA, ensuring local celebrations of Indigenous achievements. Recognised globally, Asha has received numerous awards, including the Order of Australia Medal, the Stevie International Businesswomen’s Award, and induction into the WA Women’s Hall of Fame.
A sought-after speaker, Asha uses her platform to champion equity, empower women, and promote Indigenous-led solutions. Her leadership exemplifies how culture and diversity can drive meaningful change and improve lives across Australia.
