Optional Pre-Conference Activity
As part of IWC26’s commitment to Indigenous wellbeing, connection and holistic healing, delegates and their guests are invited to take part in a special afternoon of immersive cultural experiences prior to the official conference opening.
Led by local Indigenous facilitators, each experience offers a meaningful opportunity to connect with culture, Country and community through storytelling, creativity, traditional knowledge and hands-on learning.
Date: Sunday 11 October 2026
Cultural Experiences: 2:30pm – 4:30pm
Networking: 4:30pm – 5:30pm
Location: Meeting points for each cultural experience will be provided to participants closer to the event
Cost: $140 per person, including your selected cultural experience and Networking
Delegates can choose from one of the following cultural experiences:
Aboriginal Art Painting Workshop
Facilitated by Ronnie Jordan and Coen Jordan. Participants will create their own story using traditional Aboriginal art symbols and storytelling techniques while learning about the meanings behind common Aboriginal symbols and designs. Includes canvas, paints and brushes, with backgrounds prepared in advance to maximise creative time.

Cultural Artefact Talk & Traditional Spear Throwing Experience
Facilitated by Kie Barratt, Kalkadoon Man. Participants will learn about traditional artefacts, hunting tools and weapons, their cultural significance and uses, before taking part in a supervised traditional spear throwing experience in a safe and engaging environment.

Cultural Tour on Country: Mt Majura
Facilitated by Tyronne Bell, Ngunawal descendant and advocate for Ngunawal culture and language. Participants will explore Mount Majura and learn about bush foods, scar trees, Aboriginal artefacts and their traditional uses, while taking in scenic views across the Mount Majura valley.

Native Plants, Bush Foods & Cultural Cooking Experience
Facilitated by Aaron Chatfield, Gamilaroi Man. Participants will learn about native plants, traditional bush foods, medicinal uses and sustainable cultural practices, followed by a tasting experience featuring native ingredients including kangaroo, barramundi and traditional herbs and spices.
