Dr Ella Cullen is of Māori and Albanian descent from Te Arawa and Ngāi Tūhoe iwi in Aoteroa, NZ. Ella is currently the Director Wellbeing System Leadership and Insights at Te Hiringa Mahara – Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission in Aotearoa, NZ. The Commission has an important independent system leadership, monitoring, and advocacy role to improve mental health and wellbeing outcomes for tāngata whaiora and their whānau in Aotearoa, NZ. Ella is passionate about Māori wellbeing especially for rangatahi Māori and has held several Māori designated research roles in the public sector in Aotearoa. A pro-equity champion, Ella strives to embed mātauranga Māori and kaupapa Māori to enable better decision making at a national level.
