CEO and Principal Registrar of the Federal Circuit and Family Court
| David Pringle PSM is the CEO and Principal Registrar of the Federal Circuit and Family Court as commissioned by the Governor-General since 2019. David was reappointed in 2025. Before his current role, he was Deputy National Operations Registrar of the Federal Court. In that role he conducted large class action and other mediations and played a leading role in Court reform, fundamentally reforming the operation of the Federal Court's first instance and appellate fields. David has over 20 years' experience as a high-level litigation lawyer and mediator. He also has extensive experience in Court reform, particularly in policy development and legal operations. Since his appointment as CEO, David has been instrumental in developing a range of reform initiatives. These include harmonising the work of the Family Court of Australia and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia into the largest federal court operation in the country. In the 2024 Australia Day Honours List, David was awarded the Public Service Medal for outstanding public service to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia through innovative leadership and vision.David is passionate about promoting the safe and effective use of mediation in all areas of law. He is also committed to protecting the best interests of children in family law, with support from the Courts' psychologist and social worker experts, and to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and regional Australians. He remains at the forefront of the Courts' reform agenda, using technology and transforming the Courts' policies across all jurisdictions, including migration, workplace law, bankruptcy and consumer law, to ensure access to justice for all Australians. |
