Join the Inpatient Mental Health Team in Wāhi Oranga at Nelson Hospital

About the role

Two x fixed-term (12 months), full-time (1.0FTE), shift work: four on two off roster.

We are looking for two Registered Nurses who would like to join our inpatient mental health team in Wāhi Oranga at Nelson Hospital.

You will be joining a great team who are passionate about mental health and delivering a high standard of care. Our service provides inpatient care for acute through to rehabilitation. You will preferably have mental health experience, and ideally have post graduate qualifications suitable to this practice area.

About you

It's essential that you have NZNC registration and practising certificate, with no conditions that exclude Mental Health Scope of Practice.

Required skills and knowledge include the following:

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work across the Mental Health Inpatient Continuum

Knowledge of the following:

  • Mental Health (Compulsory Assessment and Treatment) Act, 1992
  • PPPR Act - Welfare Guardian
  • Sensory Modulation Principles in Mental Health
  • Mental status examinations and risk assessments.
