The 2018 International Mental Health Conference is almost upon us again, this year the conference will be held over the 8th – 10th August at the RACV Royal Pines on the Gold Coast, Queensland.
This annual conference is now in its 19th year and continues to be the pinnacle event in the mental health industry. The Conference provides an invaluable opportunity to build relationships and to share knowledge, research and latest policies.
Dr Shahina Braganza, Emergency Physician, Gold Coast Health joins us at the conference to discuss ‘oneED – Can we Embed a Wellness Program Into a Busy Emergency Department?’
Dr Shahina Braganza
Abstract
oneED is a wellness program based on mindfulness practice.
Mindfulness was selected as a vehicle due to its strong neuroscientific evidence base, not only for wellness but for attention focus control and thereby its potential to translate into clinical skills, technical and non-technical.
Other attributes of this program which contribute to its feasibility and sustainability are: simple, brief, low-intensity practices embedded into the shift, and inclusivity of all staff, clinical and non-clinical.
OneED has been positively received by staff, and interest in the program is growing.
